On the morning of March 20, the Third Generation Semiconductor Industrial Technology Research Institute signed an agreement to settle in Jiaxing Science City, to smoothly advance the industrialization project of gallium nitride RF and power devices, and to promote the clustered development of the third generation semiconductor industry in Jiaxing Science City.
The research institute is jointly built by Jiaxing Science City and Zhejiang Bofang Jiaxin Integrated Circuit Technology Co., Ltd. Relying on the company's team technology and talents, it will build a third-generation semiconductor research and industrialization platform, aiming to become a domestic first-class, internationally leading base for semiconductor technology innovation, talent cultivation, and industrialization in the future.
During the cooperation period, the research institute will introduce and cultivate teams and talents focusing on the third-generation semiconductor industry; relying on the gallium nitride RF and power device industrialization project and the institute's research team and scientific achievements, it will provide basic R&D and testing services for third-generation semiconductors; incubate various technological achievements and industrial projects; and, centered on integrated circuits as the core industry of Jiaxing Science City, introduce and settle a batch of upstream and downstream industrial development projects.
The research institute will also focus on applied research in the third-generation semiconductor industry, aligning with the industrial development needs of Jiaxing Science City and the research needs of the institute. Centered on semiconductor materials and process technology R&D, it will attract upstream and downstream equipment, material, packaging and testing, and design companies to settle, and later provide industry cultivation and incubation, thereby building a comprehensive platform integrating scientific research and talent training, and forming an integrated circuit industry cluster effect.
Reporters from Zhejiang News Client learned that on January 20 this year, Jiaxing Nanhu Microelectronics Industrial Platform was included in the second batch of Zhejiang Province's 'Ten Thousand Mu, One Hundred Billion' new industrial platform cultivation list, adding a 'new engine' for Nanhu District's high-quality economic development and boosting the creation of a digital economy highland. The Bofang Jiaxin Gallium Nitride RF and Power Device project, which started construction on March 3, is a landmark project within the Nanhu Microelectronics Industrial Park's 'Ten Thousand Mu, One Hundred Billion' platform, and also a demonstration project for China's third-generation semiconductor chip industry. It will kick off the domestic substitution of gallium nitride semiconductors, replacing silicon-based chips with independently manufactured RF and power gallium nitride chips, filling a gap in China's manufacturing sector.
The third-generation semiconductor industry is the 'pearl' of the future integrated circuit industry, a technology-intensive, talent-intensive, and capital-intensive industry,' said Zhang Bo, Chairman of Zhejiang Bofang Jiaxin Integrated Circuit Technology Co., Ltd. He stated that they hope to leverage the research institute to attract global teams and talents in the third-generation semiconductor industry to gather, jointly promoting the clustered development of the integrated circuit industry.
Building industrial landmarks and strengthening the integrated circuit industry. Nanhu District has launched the construction of the Nanhu Microelectronics 'Ten Thousand Mu, One Hundred Billion' new industrial platform, focusing on advancing a batch of landmark projects such as Zhongjing Semiconductor, Gallium Nitride, and Star Semiconductor IPM module technical upgrades. The aim is to build a microelectronics raw materials, design, packaging and testing, and smart terminal application industry chain, striving to achieve a digital economy industry output value of 30 billion yuan with microelectronics as the core, accounting for over 50% of the industrial output value of enterprises above designated size.
Vigorously developing the digital economy and fostering new industrial drivers. The new generation information technology industry has become the leading industry in Nanhu District, with over 500 digital economy directly related enterprises currently gathered throughout the district. Sub-segments such as smart terminals, integrated circuits, and flexible electronics are developing interactively, gradually growing into a new generation information technology industrial cluster with significant scale effects, distinct industrial characteristics, and a complete industry chain.
